UK’s Chief of Defence: Russia Losing 1,500 Soldiers Daily in Ukraine.
According to the UK’s chief of defence staff, Russian forces in Ukraine lost an average of over 1,500 soldiers every day in October.
In a recent interview with the BBC, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin claimed that October was the worst month for losses since the war started in February 2022 and that the Russian people were paying a “extraordinary price” for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion.
‘Russia is about to suffer 700,000 people killed or wounded – the enormous pain and suffering that the Russian nation is having to bear because of Putin’s ambition,’ he told the Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme.
He claimed that although Ukraine was under pressure and Russia was making progress, the losses were “for tiny increments of land.”
Every day, Putin loses 1,500 soldiers in the conflict with Ukraine and the UK.
He estimated that the cost of the conflict is “an enormous drain” on Russia, accounting for over 40% of state spending on defence and security.
Sir Tony stated that Western friends will assist Ukraine for “as long as it takes” in light of the election of US president-elect Donald Trump, which has raised questions about US backing for Ukraine.’That’s the message President Putin has to absorb and the reassurance for President Zelensky,’ he said.
According to Sir Tony’s article in The Sunday Times, the world community is “under immense strain” due to the growing threat posed by authoritarian nations such as North Korea, Russia, and the Iranian-backed Houthi movement in Yemen.’
This is a new era of competition and contest that will last for decades and has the potential to be more disruptive to our economy and our security than anything Britain has experienced in modern times,’ he wrote.
This is only two weeks after the secretary-general of NATO stated that Putin had lost over 600,000 troops in Ukraine, making him increasingly dependent on outside assistance for his invasion.
According to Mark Rutte, North Korean forces have been deployed to the Kursk region of Russia due to the significant losses.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, North Korea is preparing 10,000 troops to aid Russia.
‘The deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea is a threat to both Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic security,’ Rutte told reporters after NATO officials and diplomats received a briefing from a South Korean delegation.
Ukrainian military are still in the area after staging a significant push into Kursk in August. According to Rutte, the North Korean deployment was a “dangerous expansion” of the conflict, a violation of UN Security Council resolutions, and “a significant escalation” of Pyongyang’s support in “Russia’s illegal war” in Ukraine.
Putin’s ‘increasing desperation’ is seen in the deployment of North Korean forces, according to Rutte.
‘Over 600,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in Putin’s war and he is unable to sustain his assault on Ukraine without foreign support,’ Rutte said.
