Two Suspected Vehicle Syndicate Members Arrested in Ado Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two men suspected of being involved in a vehicle theft ring in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Sunday Abutu, the suspects both 35 years old  have been identified as Bamisaye Abiodun and Olaniyi Jamiu.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Abutu said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad apprehended the suspects on August 18, 2025, following credible intelligence.

Investigations revealed that the individuals were part of a network that specializes in illegally acquiring parked vehicles and selling them to criminal buyers.

The suspects confessed to their involvement during interrogation and stated they are connected to the same syndicate as Babalola Ezekiel, who was arrested and prosecuted in 2024 for armed robbery and murder.

They also admitted they were planning to steal another vehicle from the Odo Ado area of Ado Ekiti before being intercepted.

Two Toyota Camry sedans were recovered from the suspects. Police efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network, including the receivers of the stolen vehicles and possibly more stolen cars.

Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity or individuals in their surroundings.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of all citizens in the state.
