Two Arrested for Vandalising Construction Site in Niger.
The Niger State Police Command has apprehended two men over the alleged vandalism of iron materials at a construction site in Minna.
The suspects, identified as Zubairu Sarki Bello and Sulaiman Yusuf both residents of the Brighter area in Minna were arrested around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
According to a statement released on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, the duo was spotted with suspected stolen iron rods near a hotel still under construction along Hilltop Road in Minna.
Officers from the ‘B’ Division swiftly responded and arrested the two men at the scene. During an initial interrogation, Zubairu reportedly claimed to be the site’s security guard and said he was transporting the iron rods to his home for safekeeping.
Despite the claim, police have kept both suspects in custody as investigations continue.
Abiodun confirmed that the matter is still under investigation and emphasized the ongoing efforts to address rising cases of vandalism and theft across Niger State, particularly involving construction sites and public assets.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their communities, promising to provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
