The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has declared the beginning of commercial service on the red line rail.

On February 29, President Bola Tinubu officially launched the red line rail project.
Sanwo-Olu said in a statement on Tuesday that the train service is expected to carry over 500,000 people each day along the line in Lagos.
He added that the government will keep tightening the schedule and that commercial operations will run from Agbado to Oyingbo.
He declared, “Today is the first day that the LMRT Red Line will be operating commercially, starting with passenger services from Agbado to Oyingbo.”

“We want to keep Lagos moving, and the Red Line is a crucial component of our plan to build a well connected city. In less than two years, it is also our second rail system to go online.

The Red Line, which stretches 27 kilometers, has eight stations: Agbado, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, and Iju. When we increase the schedule and offer a practical way to commute, it is anticipated that the train service will carry roughly 500,000 residents of Lagos each day.

“Daily passenger services will leave Iju Station at 7:30 AM, and the second train will leave Agbado at 6:00 AM.” Before boarding, make sure your Cowry Card is ready.

As with the Blue Line and all other public works, never forget that this is a joint venture. Let’s give it the deference it merits.

“Together, we can ensure that our trains remain a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone,” the governor declared, issuing a warning that disruptions or vandalism would not be allowed.
