Super Eagles Eye Crucial Victory Against Libya in AFCON 2025 Qualifier, Says Confident Awoniyi

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has vowed that Nigeria will be fully focused on securing a win when they face Libya in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier today.

The Super Eagles will host the Mediterranean Knights at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo in the third match of the qualifying series. A victory would strengthen Nigeria’s position at the top of Group D, where they currently hold four points after two matches. A win would bring the team significantly closer to booking their spot at AFCON 2025 in Morocco.

Awoniyi, who was sidelined during the earlier qualifiers due to injury, expressed his confidence in the team’s preparations and determination to come out on top. Speaking ahead of the match, he emphasized the squad’s readiness and belief in securing the crucial points needed to advance.

“It’s a great privilege, and I think every player that is here is ready for the task for sure. Nothing but winning for the fans,” Awoniyi said.

“We’ve known each other for years now, and we’ve gotten to see each other again. All the players are excited about it, and for sure, we are ready for the game.”
