Sokoto Health Commissioner condemn Dangerous Traditional Treatments for Metal Poisoning.

The Sokoto State Commissioner for Health, Faruk Wurno, has strongly criticized the dangerous traditional practices used by local barbers to treat metal poisoning, particularly the practice of making incisions on patients’ stomachs.
He called for an immediate end to this harmful method, stating, “The practice of making incisions on the stomach of patients suffering from metal poisoning must stop immediately. Instead, those showing symptoms should be rushed to hospitals for proper medical care.”
Wurno, who was represented by Bello Attahiru, Executive Director of the State Hospital Services Management Board, assured that the government would provide essential drugs to all general hospitals handling metal poisoning cases.
Aliyu Tureta, Chairman of the Tureta Local Government Council, thanked the government for the timely delivery of the supplies and pledged to ensure their proper distribution.
The state’s intervention is aimed at replacing unsafe traditional treatments with safer, more effective medical options for patients.
