Senator Zwingina Passes Away at 70
Senator Jonathan Silas Zwingina, a former senator and the former director general of the MKO Abiola campaign organisation during the June 12, 1993, presidential election, is dead.
Zwingina served as the director general of the late Chief Moshood Abiola’s “Hope ’93” presidential campaign group for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which was involved in the 1993 election that was cancelled by General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (Retd), a former military president.
He passed on Wednesday 2nd October 2024 at the age of 70 in Abuja after a prolonged illness.
Zwingina, a former senator from the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District, was elected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999 and then again in April 2003. He was one of the party’s founding members.
May his soul rest in peace, Amen. He served on the Senate Committees on Works and Housing, Establishment, Internal Affairs, Information, Special Projects, Privatisation, and Economic Affairs.
