The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is trying to sabotage the process ahead of the governorship election in Ondo State on November 16.

The APC state chairman, Ade Adetimehin, allegedly sent lists of party members to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to act as presiding officers and assistant presiding officers, according to a statement released by the PDP on Tuesday.

Kennedy Peretei, a PDP spokesperson, claimed that following the officers’ training by INEC, the party learned about the purported scheme.

“Even though they did not attend the training, Ade Adetimehin personally submitted a list of two individuals per polling unit to INEC to serve as presiding officers and assistant presiding officers,” Peretei said.

After the APC failed to provide the promised advantages to the people of Ondo, the PDP further charged that the party was attempting to sabotage the election.

The APC responded by refuting the accusations.

Alex Kalejaiye, the ruling party’s spokesperson, denied allegations of election tampering, claiming that the APC had worked hard during the campaign to win over Ondo locals.

“There is no justification for us to tamper with the election. Throughout the 18 local government areas, we have carried out projects and worked for the people,” Kalejaiye stated.

He brushed the charges aside as untrue, stating that the APC was more concerned with campaigning than with dirty tricks.
