Prince Salman, Tinubu, and others call for an end to Israel’s onslaught in Gaza
Israeli aggression in Gaza must stop, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said yesterday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, adding that “the conflict in Palestine has persisted for far too long, inflicting immeasurable suffering.”
President Tinubu voiced worry over the humanitarian situation in Gaza during his remarks at the emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, which was called to review the present state of affairs in the Middle East.
Along with other leaders, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has called for Israel to immediately halt its military aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.
Mahmoud Abbas, the president of Palestine, is one of more than fifty Arab and Islamic leaders attending the meeting.
This occurs when the conflict in the Gaza Strip has lasted 402 days, with over 102,929 Palestinians injured and at least 43,603 dead.
16,765 children are among those slain.
In addition to this number, it was learned that an additional 10,000 persons are thought to be buried beneath the rubble.
Since October 7, 780 people have been killed in the occupied West Bank, including 167, according to Al Jazeera. Since October 2023, Israel has killed more than 3,243 civilians in Lebanon.
“Killings must cease.”
In a statement released yesterday, Bayo Onanuga, the Nigerian leader’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, said Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and reaffirmed Nigeria’s support for a two-state solution that would allow Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in security and dignity.
He pointed out that there is still hope for enduring peace in the area with this approach.
We have a moral duty to work together to put an urgent end to this conflict as representatives of countries that respect justice, human dignity, and the sanctity of human life.
“Merely condemning something is insufficient. Israeli aggression in Gaza has continued for far too long, and the world must work to put an end to it.
