President Mnangagwa Backs U.S. Decision to Deport Undocumented Zimbabweans.

Zimbabwe’s president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, has stated his support for the US decision to deport people of Zimbabwe who are living there unlawfully.

Following President Donald Trump’s stepped-up immigration crackdown, Mnangagwa said in a post on X (previously Twitter) that his administration supports the repatriation efforts.

The statement comes after US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that it would deport 545 Zimbabweans as part of a larger operation that targets over 1.4 million noncitizens who have been designated for removal.

Immigration enforcement has increased under Trump’s administration, with more than 500 undocumented people being detained every day.

Mass deportations and reductions in help to underdeveloped nations are two examples of the crackdown’s actions.

Zimbabweans are not the only African nationalities affected by the deportation wave; 379 South Africans, 174 Zambians, 15 Mozambicans, and 12 Batswana nationals are among those who will soon be deported.

While calling on foreign governments to assist in accepting their deported citizens, ICE has reiterated its commitment to guaranteeing the prompt deportation of those with final removal orders.

The deportation strategy was approved by Zimbabwe during continuing talks regarding repatriating returnees to their homeland.

Given Zimbabwe’s economic difficulties, the deportee inflow could put further pressure on the country’s resources.
