Presidency Officially Confirms Betta Edu’s Departure from Cabinet.

During his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, October 27, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga revealed that the Presidency has formally ruled out the possibility of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Betta Edu rejoining President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

As you may recall, Tinubu suspended the minister in January after a national uproar over an alleged ₦585 million scandal.

The president ordered a thorough investigation into the alleged fraud within her ministry and promised to “decisively punish” any individuals involved in breaches and infractions found during the investigations.

Speaking on the situation, Onanuga said Edu’s job has been permanently filled by one of the newly appointed ministers, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, a former Plateau State governorship candidate. 

He said: “I think there is another person from Cross River in the cabinet. There is no more Betta Edu. Remember that it is October and she was suspended in January.


“No, she is gone. Her position has been taken over by someone else — that’s the man from Plateau (Nentawe) who is now assuming the role. For this government, there is no place for her in the cabinet.”
