Portuguesa President Eyes Cristiano Ronaldo for 2026 Move

Portuguesa president Alex Bourgeois has expressed his ambition to convince Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to join the Brazilian club in 2026.
The Paulista A1 side has been actively pursuing high-profile European players, having previously attempted to sign Radamel Falcao and Nani.
In an interview with CNN (via TalkSPORT), Bourgeois revealed his plans, stating:
“We are working towards bringing a great Portuguese player for the 2026 Paulistão. And who better than the greatest Portuguese of all time? He’s also the biggest global personality today.”
While acknowledging the challenge of securing Ronaldo, Bourgeois emphasized Portuguesa’s goal of strengthening ties between Brazil and Portugal through football.
“Our strategic plan is to create a bridge between Brazil and Portugal through Portuguesa. We are making progress in that direction, and we believe this will help us connect with the 25 million-strong Portuguese community here.”
Ronaldo, now 40, is nearing the end of his contract with Al-Nassr, making him eligible for pre-contract negotiations. However, reports suggest he may opt to extend his stay in Saudi Arabia, with a potential new deal worth €183 million per year on the table—solidifying his status as the world’s highest-paid footballer.
