Il Presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella incontra Papa Francesco

Pope Francis, who has battled pneumonia since being sent to the hospital on February 14, had a restful night, the Vatican said on  Monday.

As Francis, 88, began his eleventh day at the Gemelli hospital in Rome—the longest hospital stay of his pontificate—a succinct statement read, “The night passed well, the pope slept and is resting.”

Pope Francis is still in critical condition ten days after being admitted to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome.

In his  Sunday evening medical update on Pope Francis’ condition, the Holy See Press Office in Vatican City, Rome, disclosed this information.

The statement, while critical, noted that Pope Francis is still alert and focused and that the Catholic pope has not suffered any more respiratory crises.

Pope Francis and the people who have been caring for him since his admittance attended Holy Mass on Sunday, specifically, in an apartment on the tenth floor of the hospital.

Pope Francis was first diagnosed with a respiratory tract infection on February 14 when his bronchitis worsened and he was hospitalised to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome.

Prior to being transported to the hospital on Friday, Francis, who is eighty-eight, reported experiencing respiratory problems during his meetings.
