Obasa, the speaker of the Lagos Assembly, was impeached
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has been impeached by 32 members of the Assembly.
The impeachment follows serious allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement leveled against him. Reports indicate that Obasa was removed from office over charges of gross misconduct and abuse of power. Notably, he is accused of approving ₦17 billion for the construction of a gate at the Assembly complex—a figure critics have condemned as exorbitant and suspicious.
Additionally, Obasa faces accusations of mismanaging constituency funds and projects meant for community development.
