Nigeria offers condolences as 76 people perish in the hotel fire in Turkiye

Nigeria has extended its condolences to the Government and People of Turkiye following the tragic fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Resort, which claimed 76 lives.

This was stated by Kimiebi Ebienfa, the acting spokesperson for Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement issued on Wednesday.

“The Federal Republic of Nigeria deeply sympathises with the Government and People of the Republic of Turkiye over the devastating fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Resort.

“The incident, which occurred in Bolu Province, Northwestern Turkiye, in the early hours of Tuesday, January 21, 2025, resulted in the loss of 76 lives and left over 50 others injured.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishes those injured a swift and full recovery,” the statement read.
