Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has formally presented the certificate of office to the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, officially confirming his ascension to the historic throne. The brief yet significant ceremony was held on Monday at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan, with dignitaries, traditional rulers, government officials, and joyful indigenes of Oyo in attendance.

While presenting the insignia of office, Governor Makinde praised Oba Owoade as a leader well-equipped to preserve and promote the cultural and historical legacy of the Oyo Kingdom.

He emphasized that the Alaafin of Oyo is more than a traditional ruler but a guardian of the kingdom’s rich history and traditions. The governor expressed confidence that Oba Owoade would lead with wisdom, integrity, and a strong commitment to the unity and progress of the Oyo Kingdom.

In his response, Oba Owoade expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Oyo and vowed to prioritize the kingdom’s development and the well-being of its citizens.

Oba Owoade succeeds the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who ruled the Oyo Kingdom for 50 years.
