Ndume praises the Army’s tenacity and extends assistance to victims of the Damboa attack
Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South) has expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the recent Boko Haram attack on Sabon Gari village in Damboa Local Government Area on January 4, 2025.
While commending the Nigerian Army for its resilience, Ndume pledged his continued support for the victims and ongoing military efforts.
The senator conveyed his sentiments during a visit to the headquarters of the Nigerian Army’s Joint Task Force, North East, ‘Operation Hadin KAI,’ in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The Defence Headquarters had earlier issued a statement through Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirming that over 34 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were neutralized in the attack. Despite the successful operation, six soldiers tragically lost their lives during the confrontation.
Southern Borno, particularly areas such as Mandara Mountain, Damboa, Biu’s Mandaga Garau, and parts of Ngulde and Ngwahi in Askira/Uba Local Government Area, continues to face significant security challenges.
In his remarks, Senator Ndume emphasized the importance of his visit, stating that it was an opportunity to assess military efforts in combating insurgency and to commend the dedication of the troops in safeguarding lives and property.
He also prayed for the swift recovery of those injured in the encounter, reiterating his commitment to addressing the region’s persistent security issues through collaborative engagements with military leaders.
