A multiple-vehicle incident near Lagos’ Second Rainbow Bus Stop on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway has claimed the lives of two persons.

In a statement released on Monday, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said it had received a distress call and had sent its State Emergency Response to the area, under the signature of Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency’s permanent secretary.

When the Eagle response team arrived at the location around 5:52 PM on Sunday, they found that there had been many accidents involving two commercial buses, a MAN truck (register number KTU 793 YE) transporting groundnut oil, and a Honda Accord saloon car (registration number KTU 223 GH).

Following up on the incident, more details were obtained that the MAN truck had a mechanical failure at a high speed, lost control, and collided with several cars.

Sadly, the event claimed the lives of two adult males, but LASAMBUS also provided medical care to a number of additional victims who were injured to varying degrees.

The statement further stated that “all four of the vehicles involved in the crash suffered extensive physical damage.”
However, it claimed that a prompt resolution was achieved as a result of initial responders working together at the scene of the incident.

At the time this report was submitted, the area of the incident had been cleared, the automobiles and accident truck had been removed off the road and taken to the Festac Police Station with the assistance of a tow truck.

Additionally, it stated that the deceased have been taken to the mortuary and given over to police officials who are on the scene of the tragedy.
