Manchester United Legend Antonio Valencia Prevents Suic!de Attempt in Ecuador.

Former Manchester United star Antonio Valencia has been widely praised for helping to prevent a suic!de attempt in his home country of Ecuador.

The 39-year-old, who played for Manchester United from 2009 to 2019 and captained the team under José Mourinho, is now retired and living back in Ecuador. Earlier this week, Valencia shared on Instagram that he encountered a young man on a bridge who appeared ready to end his life.

In a video he posted, Valencia is seen alongside police officers speaking with the individual before the man’s family arrived at the scene.

Valencia described the incident as deeply emotional, saying:
“Last night I went through a very tough experience. A young man was about to take his own life from a bridge. I stopped my car and approached him. I didn’t save him, but I did try to speak to him.

Thankfully, he recognized me. I said a few words to try and encourage him it was incredibly difficult. Fortunately, his family arrived, and he chose not to jump.”

He ended his message with a heartfelt reminder about the importance of mental health:
“Let’s look after ourselves our minds and our hearts. Mental health is so important. Life is fragile. Please, let’s take care of it.”

Valencia, who also played for Wigan Athletic before joining United, won two Premier League titles and a Europa League during his decade at Old Trafford.
