Manchester United Fan Arrested and Charged After Slapping Jack Grealish at Manchester Derby

A Manchester United supporter has been arrested and charged after allegedly slapping Manchester City winger Jack Grealish during the Manchester derby. The incident occurred as Grealish was leaving the pitch after Sunday’s 0-0 draw, with the fan attacking him near the tunnel at the Stretford End.

This led to a police investigation and the arrest of a 20-year-old man. The suspect, Alfie Holt from Droylsden, has been charged with assault and is set to appear in Manchester Magistrates’ Court in July.

Grealish, 29, is believed to have not suffered serious injuries from the attack. He had come on as a substitute for Ilkay Gundogan in the 74th minute.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed the charge, stating: “Alfie Holt, 20, of Haven Drive, Droylsden, has been charged with assault. He will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court. This charge relates to an incident which took place at Old Trafford Football Club yesterday.”

The assault followed a match in which Manchester City’s Phil Foden was relentlessly taunted by United supporters. After the game, City manager Pep Guardiola condemned the derogatory chants aimed at Foden’s family, calling them “a lack of class.” Guardiola expressed his frustration, stating, “It’s not United, it’s the people. We, as players, managers, and owners, are under constant scrutiny. I don’t understand why people target Foden’s mother. It’s a lack of integrity and class, and they should be ashamed.”
