Imisi Channels BBNaija Success Into Girl-Child Advocacy

Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi and winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10, has announced plans to establish a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) focused on empowering the girl child.

Speaking in Lagos after receiving an additional N2 million cheque from BetKing — a prize for a challenge she won during the show — Imisi described the gesture as both emotional and encouraging. She revealed that her own difficult childhood has long inspired her desire to support young girls facing similar challenges.

“Growing up was dramatic and tough for me, so I’ve always wanted to do something meaningful for girls. It still feels like a dream, but this is something I’m passionate about,” she said.

Imisi, who had been acting prior to the show, credited BBNaija for significantly boosting her public profile. “Big Brother gave me the visibility I didn’t have before. I’m really grateful,” she added.

At the event, BetKing’s Head of Marketing, Nengi Akinola, explained the company’s goal in sponsoring BBNaija challenges — to reward housemates and promote their exclusive games to a wider audience. Some of the featured games included Danfo Lagos, JJ Ball X (in collaboration with Jay-Jay Okocha), and Film House.

“This was our first time working with Big Brother, and we’re reviewing its impact to decide on future collaborations,” Akinola said.

Imisi’s BBNaija win is now paving the way for what she hopes will be a lasting contribution to the lives of young girls across Nigeria.
