Former Super Eagles striker Victor Ikpeba has expressed his support for newly appointed head coach Eric Chelle, emphasizing his potential to steer the team towards success at the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Super Eagles are aiming for their fourth AFCON title, with the tournament set to take place in Morocco.
In the group stage, Nigeria is drawn alongside Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles, Uganda’s Cranes, and Tanzania’s Taifa Stars, presenting a competitive challenge.
Chelle, who previously coached Mali to the quarter-finals of the last AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, brings valuable experience and a strategic mindset that could prove instrumental for Nigeria’s aspirations in the tournament.
Ikpeba believes that Chelle can inspire the players to perform at their best.
“He’s a young coach and has a good knowledge of African football,” he told Super Sport.
