Group tells Tinubu to prevail on EFCC to cease harassing Bello
The ODU Akowe Network Group (OANG) has petitioned President Bola Tinubu to exert pressure on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to desist from persecuting Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, and to cease diverting Governor Ahmed Ododo’s attention.
Comrade Noah Agada, the group’s spokesperson, said this on Tuesday at a news conference held in Lokoja to discuss the recent political hangings in Kogi State.
He urged on President Tinubu to insist on the EFCC to cease the ongoing harassment of the former governor, saying that no government and society can prosper in an atmosphere of distraction, rancour and acrimony.
“The EFCC’s recent activities regarding Kogi State are continuously impeding the peace and development of our state; they are interfering with the Ododo administration’s focus, which is a hindrance to the state’s progress,” he declared.
The Odu Akowe Network, Youth and Student Wing, is using this platform to demand that the Federal Government order the EFCC to stop interfering with the investigations of purported infractions, so that our Governor Usman Ododo and former Governor Yahaya Bello can concentrate on their respective duties.
“Let’s put the future and growth of our state first. The EFCC’s relentless investigation of the previous administration, orchestrated by individuals seeking to further their own political agendas by targeting the former governor, is impeding the current administration’s ability to carry out its mission and be productive.
It is important to highlight some of the accomplishments of former governor Yahaya Bello’s support for state and national development. Despite losing his presidential bid, he was a leading contender in the 2023 election, dressing like a sportsman to campaign for the APC and inspiring youth structures to support the current administration. It sends a clear message to us young people that there is no rewards system if this is how stewardship and commitment are recognized and rewarded. This is because it appears that former governor Bello, who made a significant contribution to the APC’s win in the general election of 2023, is not receiving fair compensation.
