New information regarding the former congressman’s alleged behavior, at least one new accusation, and insights into the panel’s inquiry were all included in the House Ethics Committee report on Trump associate Matt Gaetz, which was made public on Monday.

According to the report, the committee found that the former congressman from Florida had sex with a 17-year-old girl, used or possessed illegal drugs, accepted gifts that were not allowed in the House, paid women for “engaging in sexual activity” on a regular basis, and assisted a woman in getting a passport between at least 2017 and 2020.

In 2016, the 42-year-old was elected to the US House of Representatives for the first time as a Republican.

Days before the report was set to be released and after Trump named him as his choice for US attorney, he resigned in November.

According to the House investigators, Gaetz paid women over $90,000 (£71,843) for drugs and sex, but he also set up a convoluted network of transactions that were difficult to track down.

“The committee was unable to determine the full extent to which Representative Gaetz’s payments to women were compensation for engaging in sexual activity with him,” the report stated.

He allegedly acted as a frequent go-between by using his friend Joel Greenberg, who is presently serving 11 years in jail for crimes he claimed he committed alongside Gaetz, to communicate with young ladies by logging onto Greenberg’s account on SeekingArrangement.com, which presents itself as a “luxury dating site.”
