For student allowances, the Kebbi government releases N2.7 billion

Kebbi State’s Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, announced on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi that Governor Nasir Idris has allocated over N2.7 billion for the allowances of both local and international students.
During his briefing, Abubakar-Tunga explained that the governor approved and released N117.2 million as Upkeep and Accommodation Allowances for 25 Kebbi State indigenes studying at various universities in Egypt. He also noted that the governor facilitated the purchase of return tickets from India to Birnin Kebbi for eight state indigenes who graduated from a private university there, costing N14.4 million. In total, this funding exceeds N2.7 billion for Kebbi State students studying both locally and abroad.
The commissioner expressed deep gratitude for the governor’s support, which he said promotes academic and moral excellence in tertiary education. He also called on all citizens of Kebbi State to continue praying for the success of the current administration.
