#EndSars Protest Marked the Beginning of “Irresponsible Protesting” in Nigeria ~ Bwala

Daniel Bwala, the adviser to the president on policy, has stated that the #ENDSARS protest indicated the start of “irresponsible protesting” in the country.
He noted that previous protests in the country were well-organised and structured. This he revealed in the News Central Television.
He further stated that the #ENDSARS protest was disorderly demonstrated.
“You want to shut down law and order in the country. There is no police anywhere in the world that will close their eyes to that fact. ’#EndSARS was the beginning and the foundation of irresponsible protesting. Before ##EndSARS, all the protests that we had in the country were organised. That’s why they were called organised protests.
“But the government didn’t shut down the protesters. However, there were misadventures by law enforcement, and I admit that. ‘’That’s why a panel was formed to investigate, and it released its findings. But many of the subsequent reports were based on fake news, particularly from CNN, which exaggerated several aspects of the story,” the presidential aide said.
However, he acknowledged that law enforcement mishandled the entire situation as their main focus was only on maintaining law and order.
The #ENDSARS protest, which started in 2020 and lasted for two weeks, led to the dissolving of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). Before the protest, the SARS were accused of brutality, extrajudicial killings, and corruption. The protest, however, took a tragic turn when the military opened fire on unarmed protesters on October 20, 2020.
This tragedy drew attention from international bodies leading to condemnation despite Nigerian Government denials.
