Dead man discovered in Kano well
The Kano State Fire Service on Tuesday recovered the body of an unidentified 45-year-old man from a well in Babawa village, Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, reported that the control room received a distress call about the incident.
The statement read: “On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at approximately 12:59 p.m., the State Fire Service control room received an emergency call from ASP Kabiru Lawan of the Gezawa Police Division regarding an incident in Babawa village, Gezawa Local Government Area.
“An emergency rescue team from the state headquarters was dispatched and arrived at the scene at 1:25 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered an unidentified man, estimated to be about 45 years old, in the well.”
According to the fire service, the man was initially found unconscious. Despite rescue efforts, he was later confirmed dead, likely due to prolonged exhaustion.
The statement further noted that the victim’s body was handed over to ASP Kabiru Lawan of the Gezawa Police Division for further investigation.
