Four Super Falcons players Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, Michelle Alozie, and Chiamaka Nnadozie have been selected for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Best XI after Nigeria’s impressive performance in winning their 10th continental title.
The Confederation of African Football Women announced the tournament’s top performers on their official X account (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. “Here are the brightest stars. Meet your Best XI of the tournament,” CAF Women said.
Ajibade, a key player throughout the competition, was named Player of the Tournament. The Atletico Madrid forward also earned Woman of the Match honors in half of Nigeria’s six matches, showcasing her leadership and attacking skills.
Okoronkwo also made a significant impact with two goals and four assists, playing a crucial role in Nigeria’s success. Goalkeeper Nnadozie was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper, having kept four clean sheets and confirming her status as one of Africa’s most reliable shot-stoppers.
Defender Alozie, who was ever-present on the pitch for Nigeria, secured a spot as well, notably scoring a decisive late goal against South Africa in the semi-final, a highlight of the tournament.
