Following a violent altercation between the two relatives on Monday, October 14, 2024, in Lagos State, a man known as Ganiyu Ibrahim fatally stabbed his cousin Afeez Akeem.  The suspect remains at large, according to State Police Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident to Punch. The PPRO stated that the police received a report from a woman stating that her nephew, Afeez Akeem, and her son, Ganiyu Ibrahim, got into a violent altercation due to a miscommunication.  At approximately seven in the morning, Ganiyu and his cousin Afeez reportedly got into a heated debate that turned violent. Remember how the jet was meant to convey the men's national football team to Benghazi after they left for Libya on Sunday, October 13? But instead of going to their destination, their flight was diverted to Al Abraq airport, which is two hours away. For several hours, the Nigerian players and their representatives were confined to the arrival hall at the airport and were not permitted to leave.  Some Nigerians took to X to support Libyan authorities, while others denounced them after a number of Super Eagles players complained that they had been in the Libyan airport for more than 13 hours without a meals. They were defended by pointing out that the Libyan government had promised to react after the country's national football team had received similar treatment in Nigeria.  Libyans, meantime, have called their government's treatment of the Super Eagles players "tit-for-tat".
