Anambra Police Force Arrests Man with Human Br@ast, Recovers ₦9.5M Goods.
The Anambra State Police Command has recorded major strides in its campaign against crime, following the arrest of a suspect found with a human body part, the successful rescue of a kidnapped driver, and the recovery of valuable goods and a stolen vehicle.
In a press statement released on Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that 25-year-old Samuel Eze was apprehended at approximately 3:30 p.m. along Jude Onyekwere Street, Awada, Obosi.
Officers from the Awada Police Station, working in conjunction with local vigilantes, found Eze with a freshly severed female br@ast. The recovered body part has been transferred to a mortuary for preservation. Authorities have commenced a full investigation, with Eze currently under interrogation.
In a separate operation, officers from the Rapid Response Squad responded to actionable intelligence on July 4 and rescued a kidnapped truck driver around 12:45 p.m.
The driver had been abducted by a gang who diverted a consignment of custard powder valued at ₦9.5 million meant for a warehouse in Asaba, Delta State. Instead, the goods were rerouted to Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State.
Three suspects, Udegenyi Ugochukwu 38, Anayochukwu Okonkwo 47, and Good Odigili 47, were arrested in connection with the crime. During interrogation, the trio confessed to binding the driver in a bush before making off with the truck and its contents.
On July 5, the Command also discovered an abandoned Toyota Sienna minivan bearing the inscription “Forum of Accountants Delta State” and registration number 736 JP.
The vehicle, believed to be stolen, was recovered by patrol operatives from the Obosi Division along Okpuno-Umuota Village Road.
Authorities have urged the public to come forward with valid proof of ownership if they suspect any of the recovered items or vehicles may belong to them.
SP Ikenga emphasised that security efforts across the state remain robust, with joint patrols involving personnel from the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), Immigration Service, and local vigilante groups.
“We are determined to maintain the momentum in securing Anambra and ridding the state of all criminal elements,” he affirmed.
