Airtel Nigeria Adjusts Data and Call Tariffs Amid Rising Costs

Airtel Nigeria, the country’s second-largest telecom provider, has updated its data pricing and implemented tariff adjustments, as reflected in details published on its website on Monday.

The new pricing structure affects multiple data bundles, driven by increasing operational costs in the industry. While Airtel has not yet issued an official statement, the changes align with a broader push among telecom operators to review tariffs in response to inflation and foreign exchange fluctuations.

Alongside data price revisions, Airtel, which serves over 56 million subscribers, also raised voice call tariffs over the weekend.

A senior company representative clarified that the increase was “not up to 50 percent.”

Despite these changes, Airtel reassured customers of its commitment to affordability, stating:

“No matter your data needs, we have a plan for you. Our fast, affordable, and reliable internet service ensures you stay connected anytime, anywhere. To get started, dial 312#.”

The revised data plans include:

  • N50 for 40MB (1-day validity)
  • N100 for 100MB (1-day validity)
  • N200 for 200MB (3-day validity)
  • N350 for 1GB (1-day validity)
  • N350 for 350MB (7-day validity)
  • N500 for 750MB + 1GB YouTube Night & 200MB YouTube Music/Spotify (7-day validity)
  • N500 for 1GB + 1GB YouTube Night & 50MB Socials (7-day validity)
  • N500 for 2GB (2-day validity)
  • N1500 for 5GB (7-day validity)

This move follows a similar adjustment by MTN Nigeria, which recently revised its data and call tariffs with approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
