The human rights attorney, Deji Adeyanju, acknowledged that he was taken into custody in Lagos last Friday and then sent to Abuja.

According to Adeyanju, Darlington was detained in Abuja after Burna Boy submitted a legal complaint alleging that Darlington had defamed and cyberstalked the Grammy Award winner.

Darlington complied with the bail requirements established by the Abuja police and was released to his attorney on Tuesday night.

In a post on X, Adeyanju thanked everyone who helped secure the singer’s release and praised the IRT department’s police officers for their professionalism.

Darlington mocked Burna Boy’s connection to troubled US rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is accused of sexual abuse and human trafficking, by asking him to explain how he earned the Grammy prize for his album “Twice As Tall” in a now-viral video.

In a video, Darlington’s mother pleaded with Burna Boy to “tamper justice with mercy” and free her only son, according to Vanguard.
