A truck loses control at Lekki-Epe and strikes a market area, killing three people
Yesterday, a horrific accident occurred at Ayetoro intersection along the Lekki-Epe axis of Lagos state, resulting in three fatalities and other injuries.
At the traffic signal, a truck that was allegedly coming down from the Ita-Opo region collided with a tricycle and a stopped Toyota Camry after experiencing a braking failure.
Residents and merchants were forced to escape for their lives as the vehicle, unable to halt, swerved into the crowded Ayetoro complex and market area, according to witnesses at the scene.
Emergency personnel quickly cleared the wreckage and reduced the ensuing traffic gridlock after arriving with a tow truck.
According to confirmation from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the three victims’ remains have been deposited at the Epe General Hospital morgue.
“Three lives were lost, and they have been taken to the morgue at Epe General Hospital,” a LASTMA officer said. Additionally, we redirected traffic to allow for more efficient circulation and sent out a tow truck to remove the impacted automobiles.
