In Lagos, a commercial bus crashes into a stalled truck, killing ten people, including children
In an early-morning deadly accident on Wednesday, a bus and stationary truck at Abule-Osun, near Iyana-Iba, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Lagos, claimed the lives of at least ten people, including three children.
Thankfully, the hospital where three of the passengers who survived the deadly incident are currently treating them.

In an early-morning deadly accident on Wednesday, a bus and stationary truck at Abule-Osun, near Iyana-Iba, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Lagos, claimed the lives of at least ten people, including three children.

The sad tragedy happened on October 2, 2024, at approximately 2:15 a.m., according to reports.
Anthony Ogah, one of the eyewitnesses, claims that the crash occurred at Abule Osun, inward Iyana Iba, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. It involved a Toyota Sienna bus with registration number BDG 342 FS that was carrying a full load of passengers from the eastern part of the country when it appeared to be traveling at a high speed and collided with a stationary SHACMAN truck with an unidentified registration number.
Dr. Femí Oke-Osanyitolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, or LASEMA, blamed excessive speeding for the collision.
According to Oke-Osanyitolu, “Further investigations revealed that the Toyota Sienna, traveling at top speed, unintentionally crashed into the parked truck from behind while the truck, which was laden with granite, was parked on the road, shutting down about half of the carriageway.”
“Sadly, three passengers suffered significant injuries in the sad occurrence, while ten passengers lost their lives.
“One of the two adult female survivors of the collision passed away later.
Three adult males, four adult females, two adult female children, and one adult male child are among the deceased passengers.
After obtaining emergency medical assistance from Lagos State Ambulance Service, LASAMBUS at the scene of the incident, the adult female and the two rescued children thankfully survived the mishap. They were then transported to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja for further treatment.
“The injured passengers were quickly rescued by emergency responders, including LASEMA and Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, officials.”
Officials from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Nigerian Police, and the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, or SEHMU, were among the other emergency responders at the collision scene.
In the meantime, SEHMU authorities removed the ten corpses’ remains and transported them to the mortuary.
The unfortunate Toyota Sienna and the disabled truck have been removed from the highway as of five in the morning, allowing traffic to move freely through the axis.
