The crossdresser Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, and Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, are scheduled to testify today before the joint committee on financial crimes and reformatory institutions of the house of representatives.

The committee is also set to hear testimony from Haliru Nababa, controller-general of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), and Ola Olukoyode, chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The lower house of parliament decided on Thursday to look into a bribery claim made against the NCoS and the anti-graft agency.

After a motion presented by Akwa Ibom member Patrick Umoh of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was adopted, the house passed the resolution.

In an audio clip posted by VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky said she paid N15 million to EFCC officers in order to get the money laundering accusation against her dropped.

Bobrisky was given a six-month prison sentence on April 12 for misusing the naira. She was freed on August 5.
The crossdresser further stated in the alleged audio that Nababa and her “godfather” made sure she spent the six-month term in a private residence rather than a jail cell.

Later on, Bobrisky refuted the allegation of bribery, claiming the tape was “fake”.

Following the EFCC’s invitation to her and VeryDarkMan on the allegations, the crossdresser issued a denial.

Deji Adeyanju, the attorney for VeryDarkMan, stated in a post on X on Sunday that his client would comply with the green chamber’s summons.

“To help with the investigation into allegations by Bobrisky that he/she paid N15m to get money laundering charges dropped by EFCC and also bribed jail authorities to stay in an apartment,” he said, adding, “We will be visiting the National Assembly tomorrow with our client @thatverydarkman.”

The joint committee requested that Olukoyode and Nababa appear on Monday along with all of the policemen connected to the allegation in a letter dated September 27.
