Solskjaer Commends Wilfred Ndidi’s Leadership Following Besiktas Debut
Besiktas head coach and former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised Wilfred Ndidi, calling him a genuine leader after an impressive debut for the Turkish side.
Ndidi played his first game for Besiktas in their 2-1 Süper Lig win over Eyüpspor, starting in midfield and demonstrating his defensive skills and calmness.
The Nigerian international received a standing ovation from the Istanbul fans when he was substituted in the 70th minute for Demir Ege Tiknaz.
Ahead of Besiktas’ UEFA Europa Conference League match against Lausanne, Solskjaer expressed his happiness about the club signing Ndidi.
“Wilfred is a very professional player and a great person. He can fill crucial roles in our squad. He’s a leader,” Solskjaer said. “I’m very pleased we brought him in. I’m confident he will make a significant impact in the months and years ahead.”
Ndidi joined Besiktas after spending eight years at Leicester City, where he played a key role in helping the club win their first-ever FA Cup by beating Chelsea 1-0 in the 2020/2021 season.
He was also part of the team that won the Community Shield against Manchester City 1-0 later that year.
