Daniel Bwala: No Politician, Not Even Jonathan, Can Defeat Tinubu in 2027.
Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has firmly stated that no political figure, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, poses a threat to Tinubu’s re-election prospects in 2027.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, August 13, Bwala dismissed growing speculation and calls for Jonathan to re-enter the presidential race.
He labeled the efforts as a strategic move by certain individuals to tarnish Jonathan’s international reputation, which he has been carefully building since leaving office.
Bwala criticized the sincerity of northern politicians encouraging Jonathan to run, suggesting that many of them had previously worked against him during his time in power. He questioned their current motives, implying they may not genuinely support his return to politics.
“The same northern figures now backing Jonathan were the ones who pushed him out. Why would he trust them now?” Bwala asked.
He also noted that the political dynamics in the South Jonathan’s home region have shifted significantly in Tinubu’s favor, with several governors aligning with the current president.
Bwala voiced confidence in Tinubu’s political dominance, asserting that even if Jonathan chooses to run, he would not be able to defeat the incumbent president.
“Based on today’s political realities and facts, there is no politician not even Jonathan who can unseat President Bola Tinubu,” he concluded.
As of now, Jonathan has not made any official announcement regarding a return to the presidential race.
