Arsenal’s Thomas Partey Granted Bail as R@pe and S€xual Assault Trial Begins.

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on multiple charges of r$pe and s€xual assault.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian player faces five counts of r@pe involving two women, along with an additional s€xual ass@ult charge involving a third woman.

Prosecutors revealed that one alleged incident took place while Partey was on holiday in Spain, and another occurred at his home in February 2022.

Partey appeared in court with his hands behind his back and showed no visible reaction as the charges were read out.

His lawyer, Emma Fenn, did not oppose the prosecution’s request to move all six charges to the Crown Court.

Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring noted Partey’s recent transfer to Spanish club Villarreal, stating, “I understand he’s no longer employed in this country and is now playing in Spain.”

He informed Partey that five of the six charges must be heard at the Crown Court, with the sixth charge likely to be sent there as a related offense. All charges will be transferred to the Crown Court at the Old Bailey.

Partey was granted conditional bail with strict conditions: he must avoid any contact with the complainants, inform police if he changes address, stays away for more than 14 consecutive days, or plans to travel abroad.

Goldspring warned that breaching these conditions would lead to his arrest and likely remand in custody.

The Metropolitan Police received the initial r@pe allegation in February 2022. Formal charges were filed shortly after Partey left Arsenal in June, following the expiration of his contract.

Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and played 35 games during the 2024/25 season, helping the club finish second in the Premier League and reach the Champions League semi-finals.

His legal team has stated that Partey “welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”

Partey’s next court appearance at the Old Bailey is scheduled for September 2.
