Rúben Amorim: I Want to Manage Manchester United for 20 Years.
Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim has shared his ambition to remain at the helm of the club for the next two decades, even after a tough first season in charge.
Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag in November but oversaw a disappointing run, securing only seven wins in 27 Premier League games. United ended the season in 15th place their lowest finish in more than 50 years.
Speaking to ESPN, the Portuguese coach reflected on his rocky debut and outlined his long-term goals.
“My aim is to be here for 20 years, and I truly believe it can happen,” he said. “Things tend to fall into place I’ve been fortunate throughout my coaching journey and I plan to be part of this club for a long time.”
He admitted the team underperformed last season: “I know last year didn’t go well, but I’m ready to begin again. At the end of the day, results are what count.”
Despite the setbacks, Amorim is optimistic about United’s future. “I have no doubt we’ll find success,” he added. “There are things money can’t buy and this club has them: a rich history, passionate fans, and yes, the financial resources. Even without Champions League football, we’re still in a strong position.”
