Dino Melaye Quits PDP Over Party’s Inability to Tackle Nigeria’s Political Crisis.

Former senator and 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate, Dino Melaye, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s failure to address Nigeria’s deep-rooted political issues.

In a resignation letter dated July 30 and addressed to the PDP Ward 1 Chairman in Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Melaye stated that he was immediately withdrawing from the party and all its related activities.

He explained that his decision was driven by what he described as the PDP’s lack of effectiveness and capacity to rescue Nigerians from the country’s worsening political challenges.

Melaye, a known ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who also left the PDP earlier in July is part of a coalition group that recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform.

Although both men attended the group’s adoption event, neither has formally registered as a member of the ADC.
