Opposition Coalition Adopts ADC as 2027 Platform, Appoints David Mark as National Chairman.
In a bold move to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, an opposition coalition has officially adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political platform.
The decision was finalized on Monday, July 1, with the official announcement set for Tuesday, July 2, at a ceremony in Abuja. The coalition is expected to unveil its members and interim leadership during the event.
Former Senate President David Mark has been appointed as the National Chairman of the ADC. Former Osun State Governor and ex-Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola will serve as National Secretary, while former Minister of Sports Bolaji Abdullahi has been named the Party Spokesperson.
Several prominent PDP leaders were present at the meeting, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, former Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Ikimi, former Nigerian Ambassador to China Aminu Wali, and former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus. They urged fellow party members to join the alliance ahead of the 2027 elections.
The leaders expressed disappointment in both the APC and PDP, stating that Nigerians have been let down by the two dominant parties. They called for a fresh start and a united front to reshape the country’s political future.
The coalition’s late-night meeting marked an important step toward building a strong opposition force with the goal of defeating the APC and playing a major role in the 2027 elections.
