Mysterious Beheading in Lagos Causes Panic

A disturbing scene unfolded in Lagos’ Idimu neighborhood on Sunday morning, leaving residents reeling in shock. The discovery of two lifeless bodies, one tragically decapitated, along Oladun Road late Saturday night sent ripples of fear through the community.
Stunned onlookers quickly gathered around the bodies, which lay several meters apart, a stark reminder of the violence that had overtaken the usually quiet area. One victim, identified by a local resident as Baba Oja, was a well-known figure in the community. Witnesses described him as a regular presence, often seen interacting with young men who solicited money from drivers of luxury vehicles near the Council bus stop. Baba Oja was reportedly even helping to regulate traffic for these cars as recently as the day before.
The gruesome nature of the killings, with one victim’s head severed, immediately fueled speculation of a cult-related attack. Local resident Jamiu Raji expressed the community’s bewilderment, stating that such violence was rare in Idimu and that the manner of the deaths pointed to a premeditated, organized attack. The discovery of the bodies remained undisturbed for nearly ten hours before the arrival of police. The second victim, though a resident of the area, was not yet identified at the time of this report.
Adding to the harrowing details, reports suggest that families of the victims were compelled to pay a financial toll before the bodies could be removed. This chilling detail only heightened the community’s anxiety and outrage.
Efforts to reach CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, for comment proved unsuccessful. Numerous phone calls and text messages went unanswered. This lack of immediate official response only exacerbated the tension and uncertainty surrounding the incident. This tragic event in Idimu is sadly reminiscent of recent cult-related violence in Mushin, Lagos, and Lantoro, Ogun State, with multiple fatalities reported in similar incidents just a few months prior.
