The suspects have also been implicated in the February killing of Richard Timothy, the Chief Security Officer of Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, and his 23-year-old son, Silas, at their home.

Police command spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko revealed this in a statement on Tuesday, stating that the arrests were made following intelligence-driven operations by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

“After a series of kidnapping incidents in the Rukpokwu, Igwuruta, Omagwa, and Etche areas, Anti-Kidnapping operatives, acting on credible intelligence, launched a coordinated operation on March 8, 2025, starting at approximately 9:30 am,” the statement read.

The operation, which lasted eight hours, resulted in the arrest of five suspects:

  • Suleman Umar, 26, from Hadeja LGA, Jigawa State
  • Bello Amadu, 35, from Keffi-Hausa LGA, Jigawa State

According to Iringe-Koko, the suspects confessed to multiple kidnappings, including the murder of the stadium CSO and his son.

Recovered from the gang were two AK-47 rifles, six magazines, 66 rounds of ammunition, three locally-made pistols, 10 live cartridges, multiple mobile phones, and SIM cards.

“The suspects are in custody and cooperating with investigators, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate,” the police spokesperson added.

The command reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining security and pledged to provide further updates as the investigation continues.
