Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle to Announce Final Squad for World Cup Qualifiers

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, is set to announce his final 23-man squad this week ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe later this month.
The Malian tactician, who released a 39-man provisional squad last week, will make his final selection before taking charge of his first competitive matches with the three-time African champions.
A major highlight in the provisional squad is the return of veteran captain Ahmed Musa, who has been recalled to the team after nearly a year of absence.
The final squad list is expected to be released after the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 matches on Wednesday, with the team set to open camp in Kigali on Sunday in preparation for the upcoming games.
The Super Eagles currently sit fifth in Group C with just three points from four matches, following draws against Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, as well as a shock defeat to Benin Republic.
Nigeria faces Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 before hosting Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25. These are must-win fixtures if the team hopes to secure a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
