UN Security Council Adopts Neutral U.S. Stance on Ukraine War as Trump Seeks Resolution.

The United Nations Security Council has adopted a U.S.-drafted resolution calling for an end to the war in Ukraine, marking a shift in Washington’s diplomatic approach under President Donald Trump.

The resolution, which avoids explicitly blaming Russia for the conflict, was supported by 10 council members, including Russia and China, while five European nations—France, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Greece, and Slovenia—abstained.

This development highlights a significant change in U.S. foreign policy. Previous U.N. resolutions, particularly in the General Assembly, had condemned Russia’s invasion, but the Trump administration has pursued a more neutral stance, emphasizing negotiations over confrontation.

The move aligns with Trump’s broader strategy of seeking direct talks with Russia and Ukraine, potentially involving economic agreements related to natural resources.

The shift has sparked division among Western allies.

French President Emmanuel Macron, during a recent visit to Washington, stressed the need for security guarantees for Ukraine and floated the idea of peacekeeping forces.

Meanwhile, some European officials worry that the U.S. position could weaken international pressure on Russia.

As diplomatic efforts continue, the world watches closely to see whether this new U.S. approach will lead to a resolution or further complicate global alliances.
