The United States raises its daily objective for arresting illegal immigrants to 1,800.
Multiple sources claim that the Trump administration has set a quota that requires Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to make at least 1,800 arrests per day, with each of the agency’s 25 offices having to make at least 75 arrests everyday.
Major sanctuary cities including New York, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston have been the focus of more than 4,500 arrests made by ICE since Trump’s return to office.
During a CNN appearance, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller affirmed the limit, stressing that “the numbers you cited are a floor, not a ceiling.”
Arresting at least that many people is the aim, but perhaps many more will be made.
Officials now anticipate between 1,200 and 1,500 arrests each day nationwide, according to the Washington Post.
According to an ICE official, ICE has a comprehensive list of criminal illegal immigrants, which makes meeting quotas easier. Accompanying ICE, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) personnel in pre-dawn operations Tuesday was Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
An alleged Tren de Aragua gang ringleader, Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, was arrested as a result of these searches, which included one in New York.
He was captured in The Bronx, close to PS 11, the Highbridge School.ICE is concentrating on capturing illegal migrants with criminal histories who are considered dangers to public safety, according to Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan, who participated in a raid in Chicago over the weekend.
Homan told Fox News, “I think the president’s happy, but we’re going to make him a lot happier.” We’re not going to stop.
“We’re going to step on the gas and drive off.” Regarding the quotas and the current activities, ICE has not yet provided a statement.
The push highlights the administration’s stepped-up immigration enforcement strategy.
