A Nigerian Nurse Secures International Job After Viral Post Criticizing Lagos.

Ugbede Ojo, a Nigerian nurse who received wrath for describing Lagos as a “smelly city” in a popular tweet, has found a new job abroad.

This comes after allegations that her position at a Lagos hospital was under peril due to her inflammatory post.

Ugbede sparked controversy in November when she tweeted, “This Lagos is a nasty city. People smell, as do the streets, gutters, and water. Everything reeks. “I am tired.”

The post received mixed comments. While some backed her right to express herself, others accused her of being “disrespectful” to Lagos and its citizens.A person going by the handle Bayo harshly denounced her remark, calling it “public ridicule.”

He called on then-Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to act. The user wrote, “Dear Lagos government, you’re entrusting the lives and economy of Lagos to individuals who despise their employers.”

“If #jidesanwoolu and #mudashiru_obasa will not start demanding respect from people that are taking jobs away from aboriginals, we will also not stop adding external LEGAL pressure until we get the desired respect.”

According to reports, Ugbede worked at the General Hospital in Gbagada. She later said that her tweet had been the target of “attacks.”But if she lost her current job because of the backlash, another X user, Cross˚, who goes by #Elkrosmediahub, offered her a job overseas. “Hi #nurse_ugbede, trust you are having a beautiful morning. So one of my Ogas requested that I get in touch with you.

Please let me know if your employment situation changes and you are open to working abroad. Will share an email address you can forward your CV to too🙏🏽,” the user wrote.”I got the job, guys,” Ugbede wrote on X on Tuesday to announce her new position.

She continued, thinking back on her experience: “Remember that I was homeless in Lagos at this time last year! Rent is being paid by borrowing money and squatting with a friend.

“I got my big girl job and big girl pay a year later. God will part the ocean when it’s your turn, but I wasn’t sure when it would happen.”
