A family planning approach to alleviate poverty in Nigeria.

Family planning is the answer to multifaceted poverty, according to Dr. Ejike Oji, the chairman of the Association for the Advancement of Family Planning in Nigeria, who made this claim on Monday.

This was stated by Oji during an interview in Abuja with the News Agency of Nigeria. In order to live a good life in all its consequences, he encouraged Nigerians to adopt family planning.

“Nigeria, at the moment, is one of the countries with multidimensional poverty.

“This means that a lot of homes in the country lack access to not just money but quality healthcare, food, water, education etc.,” he said.

The doctor was hopeful that family planning could help alleviate multifaceted poverty. He says that when people make good plans for having children and spacing them out, they will at least give themselves and their kids the necessities.

Oji claimed that children born without proper planning were at risk of becoming criminals and attributed the rise in insurgency and insecurity on a lack of family planning.

He said that a large number of the nation’s terrorists and insurgents were unplanned children. He urged all tiers of government to create laws that support family planning on a local and national level.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics’ National Multidimensional Poverty Index, 133 million Nigerians—more than 60% of the nation’s total population—are multidimensionally poor.

It claims that people are denied at least one of the necessities of life, which include basic education, gainful employment, good living conditions, and good health.
