Tinubu Guides Jonathan, Obasanjo, and Others to the Inauguration of Mahama

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu joined other African leaders, including former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, as well as 10 state governors, to attend the inauguration of John Mahama as Ghana’s new president. The ceremony, held in Accra, celebrated Mahama’s return to office after an eight-year hiatus, following his decisive electoral victory against the ruling party amid voter frustration over economic hardships.
In his speech, Tinubu emphasized the importance of African unity, urging leaders to resist external forces that threaten peace and stability. He praised Mahama as a visionary leader and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening ties with Ghana. Tinubu highlighted both nations’ progress in addressing poverty and building resilient economies, asserting Africa’s ability to chart its course without external validation.
Mahama, now 66, vowed to address Ghana’s economic challenges, including high debt, inflation, and unemployment, while promoting accountability and development. His inauguration was marked by enthusiasm, with jubilant supporters celebrating a new chapter for Ghana. The event underscored the historical and cultural ties between Nigeria and Ghana, with hopes for enhanced collaboration under Mahama’s leadership.
