A New Terrorist Group Has Been Confirmed By The Nigerian Army
The Nigerian Army has confirmed the rise of a new terrorist group called “Lukarawas” in northwestern Nigeria.
During a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, November 8, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, announced the group’s emergence. He explained that Lukarawas formed after the recent coup in Niger, which disrupted military cooperation between Nigeria and Niger.
Buba noted that following the coup, terrorists began moving into northern Sokoto and Kebbi States from Niger and Mali, exploiting weakened security coordination and challenging terrain to enter remote areas in the Northwest, where they are spreading their ideology.
Initially, local residents accepted the group, believing their intentions were positive, and did not report their presence to military and security agencies. However, Buba assured that troops are actively tracking and working to eliminate the threat posed by Lukarawas.
